Raising Your Personal Standards
One of the biggest dangers to success is complacency. If you are living a comfortable life without any specific challenges you probably feel safe and relaxed within your comfort zones don’t you? You may slide back to looking for the path of least resistance without having to stretch yourself and grow. However what happens is that the lack of stimulation will finally get to you and you start looking for distractions. You may start drinking excessively; you may over-snack, start smoking or do other such activities that actually cause you harm. The fact is that if we do not grow as persons our standards are bound to slide back.
Don’t compare yourself to others who have lower standards than yours. Don’t feel smug because you might have reached a level where you feel at par or better in comparison to others. Compare yourself with your Values, with the richness of your goals and with the extent to which you are moving towards your Life Purpose.
Also keep in mind that the persons you associate with is what you will actually evolve into. If you associate with negative persons, there is a tendency for you to become negative too. If on the other hand you associate with positive persons you will absorb positive vibes that will help you to raise your personal standards.
.
With strong beliefs to back you up you can now compare the life you are leading at present with the life you want to create based on your identified Values, Principles and Life Mission. I am sure that your Dream is to achieve something bigger and better. Maybe you are already a great achiever and you just want to continue to build upon your successes. But even this requires that you raise the stakes.
Raising your Standards requires that you identify what you will no longer accept in your life. What you want to eject so that you can rise higher.
Just imagine you are flying in a Hot air Balloon – to gain more height you need to eject the sandbags that keep you grounded until the weight is reduced enough to let you lift off the ground and fly high.
Raising your standards could be related to a certain behavior you want to control such us negative self-talk, or procrastination. It could be certain Standards you had to adapt to because you chose to slide into the rut of compromising with your Values and Dream until you came to a state where you could no longer recall what your Dream looked like. If your behaviors are inconsistent with your Standards- with the new you and the new identity that you want to create this will cause you to be dissatisfied. Work this dissatisfaction to your favor. Use it as a lever to propel you forward to change. Use any frustration you may have to inject you into action.
Just imagine if Nelson Mandela had not raised his standards and kept to them. How would he have survived his long ordeal and imprisonment? It was his full commitment to his Standards, his strong belief, his certainty that Truth would finally prevail that lay behind his success. When asked how he could survive such an ordeal he stated that he had not survived- he had prepared for the future.
We must develop a sense of certainty that we can and will meet our new Standards before we actually start working on living them. Once we are committed to these new Standards we must never lower them again. Make it clear with those you care about what your new Standards are. Otherwise you will find that over time you may slip back to your old ways of doing things. You will slip a bit occasionally but it is important to rise immediately and move on.

Balancing Action with Wu Wei to achieve Success
Persistence to your Goals pays big dividends if you really want to succeed in life.
However, here’s the catch: so does biding time and waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.
Now this may sound a bit confusing. Should we be proactive and push ourselves to achieve our Goals or should we be reactive and wait for Providence to have pity on us and to provide the outcomes we want to achieve?
By now you know that the answer is very clear. I certainly urge you to go out and chase the ball when you are committed to your Dream. You must be the trigger to set the chain of events in motion.
However there may be certain instances in life when the energy flow from the Cosmos seems to stop and you bang your face against a glass wall you weren’t expecting. It could be that intuitively you feel that it is not the right moment to keep pushing forward and that you should put the brakes on for a while. During such moments it is good to stop and reflect. Pray and ask your inner self what actions you need to take. Should you take another route or should you sit tight and wait for the right moment to manifest itself?
To further elaborate on this idea let’s look in some detail at the concept of Wu Wei which is derived from the philosophy of Taoism. This will help us to gain a few insights about this subject.
Taoism translates itself as the Way, or Path and is related to the flow of the universe, or the force behind the natural order that keeps the universe balanced and ordered. Taoism views the universe and all of its manifestations as operating according to a set of unchanging, natural laws. It’s central principle is that all life, all manifestation, is part of an inseparable whole, an interconnected organic unity which arises from a deep, mysterious, and essentially unexplainable source which is the Tao itself. Everything conceivable is contained within this principle. Various Western translators have compared this concept to the idea of God, Universal Mind, or Absolute Reality.
One concept of the Taoist philosophy is that of “non-interference/non-resistance” (wu wei).
Wu Wei or Wei Wu Wei as it is sometimes known is a paradox for most people. Translated into English it literally means “action without action” or “effortless doing”. Another way of describing it is: to consciously “try not to try.” A definition that might give a clearer understanding is ‘action that does not involve struggle or excessive effort”. This action without action is not based on the actual physical action but on the mental state of the person.
Wu Wei is based on the idea that people who fight against the natural order of things may find themselves constantly struggling especially if they base their dependence solely in mere human strength. Taoist philosophy recognizes that the Universe already works harmoniously according to its own ways; as a person exerts their will against or upon the world they disrupt the harmony that already exists. Thus action should be spontaneous, natural, and effortless.
Now, sometimes the idea of Wu Wei is mistaken for passivity. But in reality, men who act in the wu wei method can be the most laborious and hard working men in the world. Wu wei in fact does not mean that you are passive to the world. It refers to spontaneous and effortless action. For example, an athlete whose body flows through his surroundings without thinking of his actions or hesitating is demonstrating Wu Wei. By moving naturally without thinking about what he is doing he is flowing with his natural abilities to practice his sport.
In other words, skilful behavior that develops into a kind of satisfying and tranquil state of harmony so that the action becomes “second nature.” And the athlete “becomes one with the activity.” The most famous model of this was the butcher who carved oxen with the grace of a dancer.
Again, we are not saying that a person refrains from taking any decisions or choices in life. As we said Decisions are one of the most powerful tools in our arsenal of Life skills. It is necessary at times to pause and weigh different options that may have significant impact on our life. But in the concept of Wu Wei even such deliberations are performed with ease because they flow from internal awareness and harmony. Referring back to the chapter discussing Decisions, it means that we take decisions fast and with more ease than before because our decisions are flowing from internal awareness and harmony- our Values and Life Purpose which is in harmony with the Cosmic Intelligence that permeates life.
So wu wei is not to be considered as inertia, laziness, or mere passivity.
It means doing the right action, appropriate to its time and place, and serving the purpose of greater harmony and balance. Such action is associated with water through its yielding nature. Water is soft and weak, but it can move earth and carve stone. Thus Wu Wei is considered as a kind of “going with the flow” that is characterized by great ease and mindfulness, in which – without even trying – we’re able to respond perfectly to whatever situations arise and act on “natural” instinct or intuition.
In other words wu wei does not mean that you should not exert agency and will. Rather, it means that you place the will in harmony with the natural universe and achieve a state of perfect equilibrium, surfing life gracefully rather than crashing yourself against the waves. You also know when to seize a moment to best advantage, and when to remain still and allow life to flow by like being on a boat in a stream.
So how does this connect to what I’m saying here?
The idea is that you should strive to achieve your Dream without loosing your balance, harmony and connection to the whole. By discovering your innate Life Purpose and natural Values you are aligning yourself to the natural order of things.
By letting your Dream and specific Goals flow from your natural Life Purpose and Values you are grounding this natural alignment and applying it in harmonious action. Like flowing water you have the ability to yield when necessary, watch the signs of life and adapt accordingly. You understand that you cannot exercise willful control over all situations, and your goal is not to conquer and defeat your environment.
You do not act like a self-centred opportunist who watches chances for gaining personal advantage at the expense of others. You do not manipulate your way to the front without considering the bigger picture. Your actions and intentions are genuine with the pure virtues of your Principles and the individual traits of your Values.
However, like the power of water, your actions do have the power to carve rocks. By flowing with the natural order of life you can bide the time and wait for the right moment to manifest itself – and then in the most natural way, you take powerful action. This means trusting your own body, your thoughts and emotions, and also believing that the environment will provide support and guidance. Thus, the need to develop watchfulness and quietness of mind is essential so that you know when it is the time to wait and you know when it is the time to act.

Keep On Growing!
Unless you are moving forward in life, you are probably sliding backwards….even if you consider yourself a success.
Now don’t get me wrong. It is important that you are grateful for what you have and what you achieved. It is also imperative that you acknowledge and celebrate your successes. But understand that personal development never stops. When you reach a position that is good enough, you may become comfortable and think that it’s no longer worth fighting for the best. That’s why good can be the worst enemy of best: it makes you stop before you achieve your fullest potential. It distracts you from pursuing your best life.
If you feel that you have achieved a goal and reached an acceptable level of life style or development, the temptation is to sit back and let go of your proactive endeavors. In this sense the feeling that you are doing good enough in life can lead you at a tangent from seeking excellence.
It is very easy to fall back if you are not progressing. Stagnation leads to alienation – from your inner self and from the brilliance you can achieve. Although stability in life is required for the sake of providing a safe haven for routine responsibilities such as parenting it is important that we as persons continue to sharpen the saw, and develop ourselves as persons.
When you stop changing and you settle down to a routine life that stunts further personal growth the chances are that you will revert backwards rather than forwards. There is no such thing as status quo. When mediocre routine settles in, there is always a decline.
The forces of nature abhor a vacuum and unless there is action and progress there can only be regressive decline. If you look at history, the powers who ruled the world always started to collapse as soon as they diminished their resourcefulness. Ancient Rome, Egypt and Greece are classic examples.
And so it is with us humans. The moment we stop and sit on our laurels there is a great tendency that we will either revert to past behavior or else we will stop growing as persons.
It is important that as soon as you find yourself about to reach a goal, you need to start designing a new set of goals for the future. Otherwise you will experience what’s called the outrunning of your Dream. It sometimes happens that people who achieve a life time goal suddenly get what I call the ‘post Tabor experience’ where they fall back to earth with a great bump and suddenly realize that their meaning for life is lost.
It does not matter if you are young or very senior in your age. If you are eighteen or if you are eighty you still need goals to drive you forward. It all depends on your ‘joie de vivre’ and the decisions you take along the way.
Two women turn 70 years old:
- One writes out her will and prepares to wait for death
- The other woman named Hulda Crookes decides that mountain climbing might be a good sport to start at an elderly age. She makes 23 successful climbs to the top of 14,495-foot Mount Whitney. In 1987, at age 91 she also makes one ascent up the 12,388-foot Mount Fuji in Japan and become the oldest woman to ascend it.
So the question is:
Are you ready to write your Will and crawl in a hole… or will you plan the next big summit to ascent ?

Manifesting Your Goals – The (MECA)=M formula
The Key to Change Your Life is to “Jump” Into Your Subconscious…
There’s a lot being said about the Law of Attraction and the way through which we can create our goals by the power of the mind. As if things weren’t complicated enough, new ‘Laws’ keep sprouting everyday and you just cannot keep up with all the tantalizing claims to secret ways of manifesting your Dream.
So do I believe that our mind somethow ‘attracts’ the Universal energies to provide us with external opportunities by the way we think?
Although I do not accept the simplified version that is flouted around on some of the internet sites I do believe that there are too many serendipitous coincidences in my life. Far too many things just line up too many times when I am focused on something. And the things that happen at times do not seem to happen simply because I am more alert to what is happening. So I don’t feel comfortable to totally debunk the idea that there might be some kind of unseen power or force at play that may ‘assist’ in the process based on your focused Intention. The Law of Attraction may or may not work exactly how it is projected by its adherents. The process suggested by a number of authors that you should just ‘Ask, Believe and Receive’ may be a bit simplistic or at least it might have been misunderstood by some.
However I do have my own belief about how to manifest the power of your mind and attract your success. If I were to describe a ‘law’ about making sure that you manifest your Dream it would be (MECA)=M :
Mind Creation +Emotion +Commitment+Action= Manifestation
‘
Mind Creation: Basically what I am saying here is that thoughts and mental images are the precursors to action and the fact that a mind-body connection definitely exists makes Mind creation a first and important step. This will be your blueprint of the Dream you wish to manifest in your life based on your Core Values and Life Purpose. So first you need to create a very vivid picture in your mind that captures your Dream in as much detail as possible. You have to see this picture and ‘live it’ as if it is ALREADY a reality; as if you are living it in the present. This visualization is not something you do once. It has to become a pattern of your thinking on a daily basis. Find a time during the day when you can be relaxed; even during your power walk or jogging session; and enact what your Dream looks like as if you are living it.
Emotion: Each time you visualize your goals you have to energize and instill emotion and passion into the picture you have created. See it, feel it, smell it and hear it as if you were suddenly projected into the future. It is important that you experience the feelings of success and joy as if you are already living your Dream, thus aligning your physical and mental states to the expected outcome. Come up with strong reasons why you wish to manifest your Dream and achieve your goals. The more reasons you have to support your goals the more you will become emotionally charged. Think of the benefits your goals will provide both to yourself and to those around you. Write your goals down and write the reasons why you want to achieve them. This will continue to inject passion into your visualization and it will also hardwire your visualization into your nervous system. This is what all super athletes are doing when you see them pause and focus just before their big event.
Commitment: Commitment requires a decision that you will not look back on what you have decided to do. No crappy excuses and no second thinking. If you decide you will go for your Dream, then you GO for your Dream with FULL commitment. You will need that commitment as you start taking actions on your goals and challenges start to crop up. So make sure you are certain about the goal you achieve and then cross a mental line in your mind- a line of commitment with no return.
Action: After you have created your Blueprint and injected it with emotional energy and commitment you need to take consistent action and look out for opportunities which you attract along the way. No action=no results. Period. So you have to totally commit yourself to your Dream, make a plan and find role models to support you… and then start taking massive action. The only way you can be lucky without working is if you hit the jackpot or win the lottery, and even then you still have to buy a ticket. In all other circumstances you MUST put in some effort and consistent action to create real success . And when I say consistent action I mean it! You really need to focus on what you want to achieve and be on the lookout for any opportunity that comes up – and then snap the opportunity and take action. Be sharply aware of what is going on around you because Providence does have a way of moving in alignment to your goals when you totally commit yourself with a clear focus. Such clarity of purpose and focus will also trigger your mind to become more aware of the opportunities that arise. It’s like when you decide you will buy a red convertible sports car or some other car and suddenly, you start seeing a lot of them in the streets as you walk by. Did your decision to buy such a car suddenly lead to an influx of these cars in the streets? Obviously not, but your mind is now focused on what you want and is more aware of such opportunities to reach out to what you want in life.
Manifestation: You have to hang on with determination until you manifest your desired outcome. Challenges and some failures along the way will occur and these can be used to hone your skills and determination to succeed. Remember that Thomas Edison tried a thousand combinations before he hit the right answer to create the electric bulb. For him these ‘failures’ were learning opportunities to identfy what did not work. So, Persistence and Perseverance are key during such times of trial and it is also important to be flexible in approach but aligned to your purpose. If you try out an approach and it doesn’t work you’d have to be mentally challenged to continue banging your head against the wall. So change tactics if required but remain loyal to your Dream.
Feel gratitude for what is already manifesting in your life and when you start reaping your rewards, celebrate your successes.
So is there a magic wand we can use to attract Life Success in a totally effortless way and just by simply wishing what we want?
Get real if you believe so! There is no magic wand. BUT….
If you practice (MECA)=M on a daily basis you will be powering your efforts and creating a recipe for your success.
By learning to visualize your Dream you will be sowing the power of your creativity in the spawning ground of your subconscious mind. And when that happens … your Dream will sprout its first creation.

STOP Procrastinating!!!
Do you have a tendency to procrastinate at times? Well, if you do you are not alone. Procrastination can be defined as deferring action and putting off doing things that your better judgment tells you should be done now. The fact is that many people do procrastinate to some degree – but some are so chronically affected that it disrupts their life. Such people may feel overwhelmed when faced with a challenging task. They prefer the misery of a non-productive state rather than the consequences of change and fear of subsequent failure. Given a new challenge, they may find it difficult to decide where to start from and will keep postponing the task, waiting for the “right” mood or the “right” time to tackle it. . Your attitude becomes similar to the ‘Free beer tomorrow’ signs in pub windows! You plan to do it tomorrow but tomorrow is always in the future. Of course, this is just a delaying tactic and it never works as you just keep delaying for ever. What happens is that as time goes by you may get caught up in a loop of ‘failures’ and this leads to a vicious circle that continues to reinforce your procrastination. If you are a procrastinator there is a possibility that you may also have a perfectionist trait. You may never be happy with your results and your List of To Dos may be endless. You may work as hard as other people but you just mismanage your time and invest it in the unimportant tasks. You may jump from one task to another without a clear understanding of what is urgent but not important, and what IS actually important. Perfectionist and sometimes even catastrophic thinking could run something like “I must get all this work done today or I’ll be a total failure. But there’s just so much work to do. I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow when I am feeling better and can do a better job.” Be aware of your actions or inactions. Do not let procrastination sweep a dark blanket over your Dream. Identify carefully how you are spending your time and do not waste the privilege that life gives you to make a difference – to live your true Life Purpose. Make sure that in your quest for meaning you do not end up trying to keep ‘busy’ and running frantic circles around urgent but unimportant things. If you find yourself procrastinating, ask yourself what the consequences are and if there are any hidden benefits that may be causing your behavior. You might feel that not cleaning up your garage is making you irritated because when you go in the garage you never manage to find the tool you need straight away. However the task may look daunting and watching TV could be more attractive. At the end you have to heighten your feelings of frustration to a level where you will not accept the garage looking a shambles.
So what are some things you can do to beat procrastination?
- Manage your expectations: You may be expecting to do too much in the time you have available. Do not plan long endless lists because you are planning to fail. Chunk down your activities into manageable and reasonable chores. Write a list of the items you have to do but make a definite and reasonable maximum of chores per list e.g. 10 chores /activities a day. Try to time your activities and leave ample time space for any surprises. One thing I find with people who procrastinate is that they find it difficult to time how long it takes them to do an activity and normally they underestimate the amount of time it takes to do something. The outcome – impossible lists that are too long.
- Start small: If you have several small items to do which are directly related to the work you need to carry out, do these first. Even though you may have some larger tasks left, psychologically it feels as if you have less to do when the list isn’t so long. It gives you a feeling that you have accomplished something. Just remember, it must be a task that is relevant to accomplishing your goal. Putting a new collection of stamps in your album may be a quick and easy task, but if what you really need to accomplish is to work on your thesis, you won’t be helping yourself!
- Tackle difficult tasks first as you become more efficient: Although it’s good to initially tackle small items it might be a good idea to shift the system as you start beating procrastination. As soon as you start being more in control start tackling the big and important rocks first thing in your day first. This ensures that the activities you really need to do are done immediately, especially those that may be unattractive to do. In other words- eat that frog!
- Focus only on your immediate goal. Put your focus fully on the task at hand and do not get distracted. Just become one with the task you are doing and put all your energy in finishing it with a clear attention to the activity. Do not jump from one activity to another. Finish what you started, take a small break and then move on to something else.
- Just do it! Next time you catch yourself saying, “I can do this later”, think Nike. Just do it! Push on through the feelings and do it now. If you find yourself dragging your feet to do it, just say to yourself ‘I will do this for 10 minutes and then I will stop if I want to’. Then start for 10 minutes – you will probably continue. The feeling you get when you finish will be so much better than any relief you get from putting it off.
- Pump it up! Choosing a particular music track to do a challenging activity can be a booster. The track should ideally be suited to the activity you are doing e.g. if you are doing an activity that requires energy and physical movement you can do an upbeat trek that powers your movement.
- Mark it off. When you have accomplished a task, mark it out on your list with a pen. It gives you visual confirmation that you are progressing and this gives you a psychological boost.
- Reward yourself when you manage to keep to schedule. Not only will this be a booster to help you deliver but knowing that you have finished your tasks will also make it easier to relax and enjoy your leisure time.

What is True Life Success?

True Life Success can be elusive and we could have the world at the tip of our hands….. and yet feel a sense of emptiness inside. As if something is missing. As if our soul yearns for that deep connection to our inner essence and bliss.
We may have pegged our emotional rewards to materialistic achievement but may feel that still… we are not totally fulfilled. So if a cool yacht moored in a Marina or a Masarati in your garage do not give you the feelings of success you desire, what will?
.
I am sure that such material things are useful and certainly enjoyable to have. I for one find nothing repulsive in having such ‘toys’ to play with!
.
However True Success is not just about what you want to have in your life and the results you want to achieve.
It is about who you want to become as a person.
No flashy external display of power is going to help you succeed in life if it is just an artificial show for others.
I think you have experienced a situation where a salesman tried to coax you into buying something you do not need and most of us have become quite adept at cutting off long winded conversations with such salesmen. Why do we normally dislike such intrusions? It’s because we know that the words being used by the salesman are simply sales pitch and that they might not be genuine.
So what I’m saying here is that the first step to Success is to be genuine as to who you are. True success is about exposing your inner essence, and letting it shine like a beacon in the world.
Unless you have experienced True Success there may come a time when you ask yourself ‘Is this all there is?’ This may happen especially if your focus has been squarely on gaining material Success at the expense of more intrinsic fulfillment.
Success needs to be exciting and fill you with enthusiasm, not put you under undue pressure.
True Success is simply the realization and achievement of a worthy ideal or result that your heart is deeply connected to. It is a Success that is saturated with Emotion, powered by Passion and driven by the natural flow of Providence. It is driven by a hunger that cannot be stopped. A focus that is unrelenting in its grip. A drive towards actions that will not be contained. And it is driven by a Force that knows no failure.
Once you become sensitive to the Inner guiding voice that prompts you to discover your Mission in life you will become immersed with passion and enthusiasm. Such realization will create an ‘aha’ experience as you suddenly realize that there is Meaning in Life and that you have a specific and unique mission to carry out in the realm of the cosmic reality that we live in.
This discovery of a clear Life Purpose births passion and enthusiasm for life. People who experience and live True Success often invigorate their passion from their Life Purpose and may seem to burst into the scene and create Success easily, while others struggle all their life. They are operating on a whole different realm of Success and actions. Such people are not afraid to look into the future and remove the shackles that keep them tied to an uninspiring life.
This begs another question. Are people destined to greatness born with a special gift within them that can be easily identified? Are we certain that each and every individual person has a Life Purpose and Mission?
Again we can feel rest assured that Providence does not dish out favors with inequity. An important NLP presupposition is that: If one person can do something, anyone can learn to do it.
History is strewn with examples of people who had humble beginnings and went on to live a life of greatness.
- Mahatma Ghandi was born in a small town in Gujarat India and the initial years of his life were quite unremarkable.
- A boy named Temujin who was born in the 12th Century was cast out by his tribe when he was just a child and left to struggle for survival on the harsh Steppes of what is now Mongolia. From these humble beginnings he went on to become Genghis Khan, leader of the greatest continuous land-based empire the world has ever seen.
- In 1769 a boy was born in Corsica after the French had colonized the area. The boy was one of eight children of island patriots and small-time aristocrats. He spent his childhood hating France, the nation he would one day rule- his name Napoleon Bonaparte.
- Before Lincoln became the great politician he was, he made his humble beginnings in Illinois, first as a laborer, working for pennies a day in New Salem and then as a lawyer in the state’s capital, Springfield.
Clearly there are opportunities for all of us if we only learn where to look for them. Life success is a legacy that each and every one of us has inherited and has a right to manifest through the opportunity that life in this material plane provides.
So, True Success is not about being better than others but being the best that you can be. Your focus should be on how you can live life to the full of your potential rather than being in constant competition with life itself and with others.
Success can include the creation of sustained positive outcomes in your career, wealth, relationships, health and other areas in your life that you give prominence to. These are basically some of the areas found in your Wheel of Life.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in generating such successes in your life. You should believe with certainty that you deserve to have this kind of success. You deserve to be wealthy in all aspects of your life and you should have no compunction towards working for these goals. In fact we will be discussing how to put yourself in peak form to create such successes in your life throughout most of this journey together.
However, we have also discussed that these successes in themselves may still lead to a certain sense of ‘emptiness’ unless we address the prompts of our True nature. Once we discover what our True Life Purpose and Dream is, life will suddenly take on a new meaning and we will become infused with passion to achieve our Mission in life.
Being true to our Life Purpose will lead us to achieve True Success because rather than focusing only on material possessions we will be focusing on the person we want to become and the Legacy we want to leave behind us. We will start appreciating life as we live it each moment. We will not find ourselves struggling and chasing illusions that only cause us worry and frustration.
By combining our material and worldly successes with a concerted effort to achieve our True Life Purpose we will gain the sense of what True Success is. And this effort will not be a daily struggle against life that drains us of our energy, life balance and true happiness. It will be based on the concept of balance. A balance between living an exciting life of enterprise as we take action to achieve our personal Dream, balanced by a life that flows with the natural harmony of the Universe. By letting our actions flow naturally from our Inner Wisdom in alignment with our True Life Purpose we will be synchronized with what we are meant to achieve in life.

A Beautiful Poem
I am not usually the poetic sort of geek but I saw this and I liked the message.
So I thought I would share it with you:

The Invitation
by Oriah Mountain Dreamer
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shrivelled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.
It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul; If you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it’s not pretty, every day, and if you can source your own life from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand on the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, “Yes!”
It doesn’t interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up, after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the children.
It doesn’t interest me who you know or how you came to be here. I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.
The Power that Drives our Results

We all know that a floating Iceberg is just the tip of what lies underneath the water.
.
In fact we can only see about 1/6 of an iceberg and if you think that’s an exaggeration, just ask the skipper of Titanic!
So you might ask: ‘ Reggie, what the hell’s an iceberg got to do with Life Coaching ?’
.
Well, the fact is that the results we achieve in our life – that which is visible, is usually just a fraction of what is going on beneath the visible – just like an iceberg.
.
So now let me ask you a question:
‘What do you think is the power that really drives our results and provides us with the visible results and success in our life?’
Yep! It’s our ACTIONS! If we take no Action there will be NO visible results.
.
If someone believes for one moment that success is the result of fate or luck, then oh boy. that person really needs to rewire this screwed up thinking!
.
No Action – no Success fullstop!
But then again…. is taking Action a guarantee of success or is there something deeper within the recesses of the underwater iceberg that influences the actions we take and the results we achieve?
.
Again, the fact is that nothing is what it seems.
.
Underneath the power of actions lurks an even deeper and stronger influence that will ultimately effect the results you visibly manifest in life. That influence is your IDENTITY.
.
The Identity you give to yourself, the beliefs you have about yourself and the confidence you have in your abilities will influence your visible results. Your results ultimately reflect who you believe you are as a person.
.
You will never be able to do any action consistently if it is inconsistent with how you see yourself. If there is inconsistency between the goal and the identity you give yourself your goal will be sabotaged. Your results will never show up.
.
When the Titanic hit its doom, it was not the tip of the iceberg which sank it. It was the deeper and stronger core of ice underneath the water which made the kick ass hole in the hull. Likewise when you fail in your goals it is not the goals and results you want to achieve which are the problem. The big issue lies with how you see yourself, the identity you choose to give yourself. If you want to start a new business but deep down you believe you are a fickle, uncreative looser your actions will reflect this thinking and guess what- your results will also fall in line with that belief….and you will fail even before you have started.
.
And remember: what’s most important is how you see yourself and not how others see you. If you have strong beliefs about yourself and you have a clear identity of who you are, no one can stop you from achieving the results you want.
l
So rather than focusing at the tip of the iceberg, start exploring the deep recesses of your beliefs and self-thinking. Create a strong identity of who you are and let your actions flow from this identity. You can be certain that if your identity is strong, confident and certain the results flowing from your action will be awesome.
Let your Iceberg shine!
